The Day After

So Jesus rose from the dead yesterday… Now what? What does that mean on this Monday. When we hear the story of the resurrection so much we can forget that on this very Monday, Jesus is STILL risen from the dead, He is STILL alive, and the tomb is STILL empty. So what does the mean for me now?

Before God sent His son to die on the cross, did He ask our permission? He didn’t shoot you a quick text asking, “Aye, is it cool if I send my son down there real quick? He got some people He needs to save?” Of course not! This plan was not a negotiation between us. He did not need our permission and we did not even ask for it. But God gave us a gift that we did not even know we needed before I was even there to need it. And with this free and perfect gift, God forgave us for all of our sins. Every single one. So we are free to live fully in Christ without the weight of trying to do it perfectly, because Jesus already did.

So now what?? Live this day chasing after Christ knowing that it is by His Grace that we are free!!

God does not have to defend his title. This is not a 12 round boxing match and the resurrection was just the first round. The tomb is still empty!! So we are standing in victory. Death was defeated then and continues to lose to this day and will for eternity. So whatever you are facing this week, know that you are starting from a position of victory. Victory is yours because you serve a victorious God.

We have been chosen for a big mission. Tasked to do the work of the Lord. Now that we have seen the empty tomb, saw that He has risen, we must now go.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
— Matthew 28:19-20 ESV

Did you hear Him? The Son of God who just died on the cross to save us from our sins, just invited us into a purpose driven life that will give direction to the very lives He just saved. Mission has been given where sin was defeated. Now that we are not bound by sin, we have a new and soul-satisfying call to go and spread what we just saw and experienced.

Now that it’s Monday and the hectic-ness of life and work is coming. Do not forget your mission. No matter what phase of life you may be in, no matter what field you may be studying or working in, we all have the same goal: to come and see then go quickly and tell. So friends, this week do not forget the cross, do not forget the empty tomb, do not forget the risen Savior on the throne. Do not let the thrill and high of resurrection Sunday be limited to only Sunday. We have 7 days a week to serve Christ and fulfill our mission.  So go!! Go quickly! Run and tell of what just happened this Sunday. Tell your friends, family, coworkers, and strangers that you just heard the good news. And when you get to the point that all the people in your immediate life know. Break out and find people you don’t know and tell them. So go, the world is waiting on us. They need to know about Him!
